Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs assists Wisconsin veterans through benefits, programs, and services that enhance their education and employment and provide aid for purchasing or remodeling a home; traveling to federal VA medical appointments; obtaining health care services; overcoming barriers to employment; and obtaining subsistence assistance in emergency situations, as well as assist in discharge updates and obtaining medals that were lost or not issued.
Wisconsin Veterans Oral History Program
The Wisconsin Veterans Oral History Program was established by the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in 1994. The program records the experiences of Wisconsin men and women, combat and non-combat veterans, who served in the military from World War II to the present. It currently boasts over 1,200 interviews and actively seeks those interested in telling their story. Veterans from throughout the state are encouraged to be trained as interviewers.
Wisconsin Veterans Museum
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum extends Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs services to men and women who served in the military by preserving their stories, documents, and objects. The WVM also offers a number of educational resources for classroom use, including travel trunks of historical artifacts, the Veterans in the Classroom program, scavenger hunt booklets, and tour opportunities.
