In the Hands of the Enemy-Janesville Tank Company (Wisconsin Army National Guard)
Just hours after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 the American troops in the Philippines suffered a surprise attack with devastating consequences. After a brutal four-month battle 25,000 Americans surrendered after they were outgunned, outmanned, and on the brink of starvation. The film features first-hand stories of survival during The Bataan Death March, Hell Ships and slave labor.

PBS | American Experience: Fly Girls
During WWII, more than a thousand women signed up to fly with the U.S. military. Wives, mothers, actresses and debutantes who joined the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS) test-piloted aircraft, ferried planes and logged 60 million miles in the air. Thirty-eight women died in service. But the opportunity to play a critical role in the war effort was abruptly canceled by politics and resentment, and it would be 30 years before women would again break the sex barrier in the skies.

PBS | The War
Directed by Ken Burns in 2007, "The War" is the story of World War II through the personal accounts of a handful of men and women from four American towns. The war touched the lives of every family on every street in every town in America and demonstrated that in extraordinary times, there are no ordinary lives.
