Mark Schoenleber
Each year Wisconsin Public Television recognizes one of our many dedicated volunteers with the V. Thomas Metcalfe Volunteer of the Year Award. Named for Tom Metcalfe, a friend of Wisconsin Public Television and dedicated community leader, this award is presented to a volunteer who demonstrates outstanding leadership and commitment to WPT. Our 2011 recipient is Mark Schoenleber. Schoenleber first began volunteering with Wisconsin Public Television in 1991. He was invited to volunteer at Auction, through his employer, CUNA Mutual Group. Mark worked as a merchandise mover and had such a great time that he came back for another shift and has been with us ever since. He has donated hundreds of hours to Auction serving as a member of WPT’s Auction Cabinet, training and supervising volunteers as merchandise mover manager, helping to build the Auction set and driving his Smart Car throughout Dane County to pick up items donated by local businesses. While Mark’s favorite event is Auction, he also supports other WPT events throughout the year. He has answered phones at WPT membership drives, worked as a docent at Quilt Expo and assisted with a variety of job assignments at Garden Expo.
Regardless of the task, Mark is willing to take on any job and give it his all. He is the type of person that is willing to tackle the more difficult or less-pleasant tasks with a smile on his face. He offers insightful comments and comes up with thoughtful solutions to problems that have improved the quality of WPT volunteer events. Congratulations and thank you to Mark Schoenleber for all of the service you’ve provided to WPT. The hard work of our thousands of WPT volunteers make great programs possible! |
