Producer/Host Shelley Ryan and her guests spotlight gardens that promote physical and emotional healing in the next episode of The Wisconsin Gardener, which airs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22.

In this episode, Ryan visits Dr. Brad Schnee at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. Schnee gives a tour of the hospital's healing garden. He also talks about the powerful impact natural surroundings have on a person's health and well-being.

Charlie Anderson of Cooksville shares his love of horticulture and gardening, and how and why he has managed to fulfill his passion despite being almost completely blind. He has a large yard and gardens, and independently cares for them.

The program moves to the kitchen, with guest Cynthia Harrington, who shares a strategy to assist backyard gardens that are being choked by an incredibly fast-moving invasive weed called garlic mustard. Harrington suggests eating it.

Ryan discovers the rich history of garden pots from P. WakefieldCo. in Rockdale, experts in historic pottery reproductions.

Finally, The Wisconsin Gardener makes a visit to Rotary Gardens in Janesville, where landscape manager Mark Dwyer gives a tour of some reliable spring bloomers that can brighten the season, including bulbs, and some underused trees and shrubs.
