For 35 years, Sesame Street has fostered a fun and comfortable learning environment for preschoolers. To celebrate the generations of children Sesame Street has touched, Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will air a special, hour-long program, 'Sesame Street Presents -- The Street We Live On' for the whole family to enjoy at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 4.
WPT is pleased to present this primetime celebration of Sesame Street's past and future as part of its continuing commitment to education and family programming. The special allows parents to reconnect with the program they loved as preschoolers and share favorite Sesame Street moments with their children.
Take a nostalgic journey through Sesame Street's most magical times as Elmo learns more about the street on which he lives. With Grover in tow, Elmo travels through time to experience what Sesame Street was like before he was born. Elmo meets Mr. Hooper, the namesake of the famous store. He watches as Maria and Luis get married and is present for the birth of their daughter, Gabi.
The primetime special kicks-off a new, and the 35th,season of the beloved, critically acclaimed children's program on WPT, featuring more of the daytime fun and learning that has captivated preschoolers for generations. Sesame Street airs at 8 a.m. weekdays.
In 2004, WPT celebrates 50 years of service to Wisconsin individuals and families. WHA-TV, Madison, signed on the air on May 3, 1954.
WPT is a service of the Educational Communications Board and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
