The next episode of In Wisconsin on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) features a report on the mission of the Wisconsin Army National Guard's 951st Engineer Company in Afghanistan from a wife who saw her injured husband get national media attention, an update on the Farmers' Health Cooperative of Wisconsin and a winery that produces traditional wines from locally grown grapes.
The newsmagazine airs at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 on WPT and is available in high definition. WPT will present an encore of the program at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. Milwaukee's MPTV will air the program at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
Sergeant First Class Chet Millard, a member of the Wisconsin National Guard's 951st Engineer Company out of Rhinelander, is featured on the cover of the Oct. 12 issue of TIME Magazine. Millard, who was injured in Afghanistan while clearing bombs, was photographed while awaiting medical evacuation. In Wisconsin Reporter Frederica Freyberg talks with his wife.
In Wisconsin Reporter Art Hackett covered the startup of The Farmers' Health Cooperative of Wisconsin in 2007. He checks back to see if the coop is meeting membership goals and holding cost increases within expectations. In Wisconsin also presents an initial evaluation by a University of Wisconsin-Madison agricultural economist.
A number of Wisconsin wineries use locally grown fruit crops - cherries and cranberries - while others import grapes. Join In Wisconsin Reporter Andy Soth on a visit to Trout Springs Winery in Greenleaf where owner Steve DeBaker grows his own grapes to make homegrown traditional wines.
This program's video postcard features a stretch of road in Taylor County near Rib Lake - the first road to be designated a “Rustic Road” in Wisconsin.
