Holiday Program on WPT Features Dazzling Science Demonstrations

The whole family will enjoy dazzling demonstrations that entertain and instruct as University of Wisconsin-Madison Chemistry professor Bassam Z. Shakhashiri shares the fun of science in a brand-new holiday program.

Once Upon a Christmas Cheery in the Lab of Shakhashiri airs at 7 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT). Encore broadcasts of the program are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25.

In the program, Shakhashiri and his guests display fascinating phenomena, including some amazing properties of greenhouse gases and the remarkable effects of color and vision. The 39th element, yttrium, also is featured and some of its secrets are revealed.
