To see him lying there,
Makes me wonder how this could be fair.
Knowing he had a lot to give,
Knowing he had a long time left to live.
It he wouldn't have been driving,
He might have still been here, laughing and smiling,
If we hadn't been out so late,
The truck would have missed us and changed our fate,
But that is how fate is, taking our true friends,
Not permitting good-byes or the tying of loose ends
If only I had been driving,
