Reading Rainbow Contest
Over 430 young authors in kindergarten through third grade entered their originally written and illustrated stories and participated in the 12th-annual Reading Rainbow Contest.
Entries were judged in each grade level and prizes will be awarded for achievement in both writing and illustration. Every child who entered will receive a special certificate signed by Reading Rainbow host LeVar Burton. Contest rules and applications for next year's contest will be available soon wpt.org/kids on the Web or by phoning (608) 265-5035.
The contest is sponsered by the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board and Wisconsin Public Television (WPT).
The Emmy Award-winning Reading Rainbow series, airing at 2:30 p.m. weekdays on WPT, takes young viewers on adventures that help stimulate an interest in reading for pleasure and entertainment.
