Garden Expo Friday Workshops
Friday, February 13, 2009
Registration begins December 15 and is required for all workshops. Registrations will be taken online until 5:00 PM, Monday, February 9. If space is available, registrations will be taken at the Wisconsin Public Television booth during the show. Fees include instruction and supplies.
Garden Expo admission is separate from workshop fees.

Hand-Crafted Herbal Seasoning

Take your fresh herbs and garden harvest to the table. Learn how to design, hand-blend and use herbs and spices into original seasonings. Use your creativity to take home five unique spice blends: Bouquet Garni, Herbes de Provence, Fines Herbes, South of the Border and a salt substitute. (1 hr.)

Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts
Join the irrepressible Judy Sutcliffe for a fun class in leaf casting in mid winter! Yes she'll supply interesting leaves, and students will make a concrete and hypertufa two-layer casting that can be used as a bowl indoors or out. In the process, you'll leave more about the cementitious arts and be ready to cast many more leaves come summer. (2 hrs.) Registration Required.

Experiment With Nature Prints

Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts
Leaves, vegetables and fruits can all be used for printmaking. It's a fun way to try a variety of methods to make notecards, postcards, journal pages, fabric patches and even limited-edition prints. You will carve some vegetable stamps and try some masks. You will experiment with direct relief printing, color-blends, monoprinting, mulit-color prints and more using pressure from hands, feet, spoons and even an antique washing machine wringer. (2 hrs.)
