About the Digital TV converter box

The digital-to-analog converter box is a stand-alone device, about the size of a paperback book, which allows your antenna to receive and convert digital signals into a format that analog televisions can display.

Depending on your TV, the converter box will plug into the front or back of your television set. You should be able to install the box yourself using the instructions provided by the manufacturer. You will still need an antenna, which works with the converter box. The boxes retail for around $40 to $70 at consumer electronics stores and on the web.

Only analog televisions that are connected to an antenna will require a converter box after the change to digital-only TV. If you have a paid television service, your cable or satellite provider will see to it that you continue to receive local stations, including WPT.

Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio are services of the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board and University of Wisconsin-Extension which provide equal opportunities in employment and programming including Title IX requirements.
