The Teacher's New Temple

Thursday night, WPT will present the premiere of The Teacher's New Temple, a documentary about the planning and construction of a new temple at Deer Park Buddhist Center near Oregon in Dane County. The program airs at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Geshe Sopa, the center's abbot and founder, the development of the new center will provide a home for people from around the world looking to learn more about Tibetan Buddhism. Built during the past three years, the center embraces modern environmentally conscious construction methods along with the work of traditional artisans.

The program's broadcast coincides with a visit to Wisconsin from the Dalai Lama who visited Sopa and the new center. The spiritual leader is also conducting a series of talks and lectures, including speaking engagements at the Alliant Energy Center Wednesday and Thursday night.
