Climate Change: Maple Syrup
Thursday, April 7, 2011

A family farm in Athens, Wisconsin has been tapping maple trees for more than 75 years. Wisconsin is currently the number four maple syrup producing state in the nation. Climate change could have a significant impact on maple syrup production. The sugaring process depends upon the temperature drop at night when trees are breaking dormancy. Last year was the worst maple syrup season farmers have ever had because of the quick spring warm-up.  Our Quest project  partner Finn Ryan, with the Educational Communications Board, brings you one family's story.
